Classic Prize goes to Christine Rauh

Germany’s oldest classical music prize is awarded to Christine Rauh.

The history of the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Prize dates back as far as 1878. This prize’s institution was meant an idealistic present of the Prussian State given in return for the donation to the Royal Library of the composer’s manuscripts and archives by his heirs. Nowadays, the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation continues the then set up tradition.
